Experience counts. It’s not what you didn’t read that gets you. It’s the things that were never in the books that truly hurt.

Hope has no place. Don’t leave things to chance be proactive.

Agility is key. Agility in the IT environment only comes about when you’re able to dig into and properly adjust the lowest level languages. Secure a support mechanism that allows you to do this both in a timely and economical manner.

Make a difference. Look to do things that you believe will return outstanding value for the investment. Things that can be quantified.

Situational awareness is vital. Any externally influenced system works better when it is in touch with its surroundings. IT systems are no different and performance tuning is this bridge.

Only success counts. Without consistently doing what you say, delivering on time, and on budget there is no real business value. Leaders put their faith in you and their reputation on the line. Let them down once shame on you. Let them down twice…
well, there is no twice.
